Weekly Update – December 6, 2012

This week DMC hosted members of many other school clubs including the Key Club, NHS and International Rebel Buddies. We discussed coordination with other groups at South in our effort to put together the Winter Dance & Unicef Fundraiser. It was decided that NHS would take care of the ticketing for the dance and probably a significant portion of the set up and decorations. DMC will be in charge of marketing, social media and outreach. We discovered that in order to officially raise money for Unicef we had to become a Unicef school club, for which we put in an application on the Unicef website. This also involved choosing a president, a vice president, a treasurer, a secretary, and an event planner. Everyone agreed that Ezana should be president, and then it was decided that we would have 3 different vice presidents with discreet responsibilities and several  different media liaisons and marketing people. We were able to find a good setup that everyone present got a good set of responsibilities suited to their skill set. Dorian accepted the position of secretary for the group, so he will be taking over the weekly updates for this blog, starting with a post coming soon reporting all the different positions that everyone was assigned. Finally we discussed having a launch party next week during the Thursday DMC period in which we will have pizza and watch different fun (and of course, school appropriate) videos. Everyone should bring a video they are interested in sharing, Lynn will provide pizza. The last thing we did was take a picture of the group–founding members of the South High Rebel Unicef Club!Image
